Image Quality Test Outline
When the Scanner Tester is invoked, it performs and verifies the following image quality tests:
Geometric Type Test using GMT Target
• Dist & Mag (Distortion and Magnification)
• L (Left) Resolution
• C (Center) Resolution
• R (Right) Resolution
• Color Regist. (Registration) and Motion
• Uniformity
• Dark Noise
• Negative Cal (Calibration)
At the completion of the image quality test, a report file is generated by the Scanner Tester
indicating whether or not the tested image quality functions Passed or Failed. It also lists
the current parameters for the tested image quality functions so that service person can
verify the tested image quality functions with the image quality specifications. If the report
file indicates that all or a particular image quality function failed, the repair person can
compare the current parameters with the image quality specifications to determine how to
bring the failed image quality function/functions back into specification.
Changing Type of Scanner Under Test
• If you are testing one type of slide scanner there is no need to make changes to the
Scanner Tester front panel other than, perhaps, changing the Serial Number and
then selecting the stop and enter buttons to begin another test.
Note: This normal procedure will clear data from the previous test and start a new
one.
• If you change the type of slide scanner, however, you must change the Constants file
used for the test. You can change the file by manually deleting the constants
information in the Constants File Pathname box.
Note: Once this is deleted, the next time a test is started, you will be asked for find
the constants file to use.
