Slide Scanner Repair Manual Calibration and Adjustments
Focus and Magnification
Initial Test Setup
To perform a focus adjustment, the slide scanner video signal processor (VSP) must be turned
on. Normally, it shuts down 15 minutes after initial power-up if the slide scanner is not in use.
To keep the VSP turned on, perform the following steps.
For SS35/SS35 ES
1. Remove the top housing.
2. Set the SCSI ID switch to 7. ( This action keeps the VSP turned on.)
3. Turn on the slide scanner.
4. Perform the focus procedure.
For SS35 PLUS
1. Remove the top housing.
2. Set the SCSI ID switch to 8. ( This action keeps the VSP turned on.)
3. Connect the slide scanner via the SCSI connector to the host computer. The computer
must have Adobe PhotoShop and SprintScan application software pre-loaded.
4. Assuming that the slide scanner is the only device connected to the SCSI bus, set the
terminator switch to its on position.
5. Turn on the slide scanner.
6. Turn on the host computer. Once it initializes, start Adobe PhotoShop.
7. Select Acquire (Import on later versions of Adobe PhotoShop) from the File menu.
6. Perform the focus procedure.
