Component/Assembly Inspection Procedure
Filter Wheel Check filter wheel to make sure:
(For original SS35 and
SS35 ES up to serial • Tab is properly positioned (top edge-to-top edge) in the
no. B6xxxxxxD) filter wheel's photo-sensor (U4) on the main controller PC
board.
• Proper horizontal alignment with respect to the chassis
assembly (filter wheel should be perpendicular to the
optical block).
• Filter wheel should freely rotate 360
o
without any
interference. (Some early models would not rotate 360
o
.
Ok as long as it solidly hits the base plate without getting
stuck.)
Light Tunnel Check to make sure there is a 1 mm clearance between the
face of the light tunnel and slide carrier (Holder ) assembly.
Power On:
Power On/Off (0/1) Check to make sure it does not arc. Turn power on and off
Switch and listen.
Fan Check to make sure the fan turns on when the scanner is
turned on.
Transporter Assembly Check the rotation of its lead screw. It should move up/
down smoothly (not wobble).
Note: It is very difficult to observe all wobble as it moves up or
down.
Power Supply Check and adjust if necessary. Power Supply voltage should
be set at +5.0 +/- 0.1 Vdc. See adjustment procedure in this
section.
Focus Check focus and adjust if necessary. See adjustment
procedure in this section.
Magnification Check magnification and adjust if necessary. See adjustment
procedure in this section.
