This chapter presents basic information on unpacking the Vess R3600 Series and Vess J3600 enclosures and
mounting it in an equipment rack, making the connections for data and management paths and connecting the
power. It also describes how to power on the system and what to look for while it is powering up.

Depending on the details of your order, the Vess R3600 Series or Vess J3600 enclosure might be shipped with
hard drives installed, or it might require that you install hard drives. The section “Installing Physical Drives” on
page 18 provides instruction for installing hard disks.
