3.2 Safety functions
This chapter describes the safety functions according to DIN EN 61800-5-2. Some
safety functions in the MOVISAFE
®
DCS..B modules have further functionalities that
exceed the definitions stipulated in the standard. In addition, further safety functions are
available on the basis of the standard. These include, for example,
• functions for drive systems prone to slip,
• functions for reading the contacts of external switching devices and
• for the safe control of a brake system.
The MOVISAFE
®
Config software selects safety functions based on the configuration,
the basic module used, and the encoder or combination of encoders. The safety func-
tions can be configured and parameterized in the logic as required.
The following table gives an overview of the maximum number of safety functions with
reference to the respective safety module.
