5.6 Measures for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
Option DCS..B is intended for industrial use (based on the EMC test specifications
EN 61800-3). Prerequisite for safe installation is that the electromagnetic compatibility
of the entire system is ensured by taking appropriate measures. The following measures
ensure designated operation of the DCS..B option:
• Route voltage supply cables of the DCS..B option and "switching cables" of
MOVIDRIVE
®
MDX61B separately from one another.
• Route signal cables and power cables of the inverter in separate cable ducts. The
minimum distance between the cable ducts must be 10 mm.
• Use only shielded cables to connect the position and velocity sensors. The cable for
transmitting signals must be suitable for RS485 standard (EIA).
• Make sure the shield is connected properly in the 9-pole D-sub connectors of the
position and velocity sensors and on the sensor end of the cable. Use only metal or
metalized connectors.
• Use only shielded motor cables.
• Ensure EMC-compliant installation of the inverter in the vicinity of the DCS..B option.
Check the routing and design of the shielding for the motor cable and braking resistor
connection.
• Connect the shield of the motor cable, encoder cable, and split cable at both sides
(motor and MOVIDRIVE
®
B). The control cables to MOVIDRIVE
®
B must be
shielded. The shield must be connected to MOVIDRIVE
®
B.
• Connect the shield of the hybrid motor cable with integrated TF also to the shield
terminal of MOVIDRIVE
®
B.
• All contactors near the DCS.. option must be equipped with suitable suppressors.
• Use only shielded cables for safety-relevant control cables.
• The control cable between X83 of the DCS..B option and X17 of MOVIDRIVE
®
B
must be connected to the shield terminal for signal cables of MOVIDRIVE
®
B.
• It is essential that you attach the shielding of the DC 24 V supply cable to the housing
at both ends.
