8.10 Operations required for each format change
Below the machine adjustments required to change format every time the dimensions of the
product being wrapped vary.
Mechanical format change:
> Adjustmen of the height of the film conformation squares
> Adjustment of the position of infeed conveyor belt and product guide
> Replacement and/or correction of position of film reel
> Film return roll adjustment
> Adjustment of the guide rollers of discarded film
Electronic format change:
> Adjustment of the format parameters from the operator panel.
8.11 Problems caused by incorrect positioning of the film
1) Folding film near pull roller of reel-holder
The formation of folds in the film near the pull roller of the reel-holder is caused by incorrect
alignment between the position of the squares and the reel.
Check alignment as explained in the previous paragraphs.
2) Breakage of film at tip of squares
When the film breaks on the squares, the position of the reel must be corrected by moving it
towards the product infeed side (**).
3) The film tends to slip off the tip of the squares
The film generally tends to slip off the tip of the squares when narrow reels are used. In this
case you must move the reel towards the product outfeed side (*) or increase film tensioning.
4) Protrusion of the top edge of the film from the drag drive wheels
If the top edge of the film protrudes from the drag drive wheels, raise the position of the film
return roll.
5) Protrusion of the bottom edge of the film from the drag drive wheels
If the bottom edge of the film protrudes from the drag drive wheels, lower the position of the
film return roll.
