PrecautionsforHydraulicTesting(continued)
1.Cleanmachinethoroughlybeforedisconnectingordisassemblingany
hydrauliccomponents.Alwayskeepinmindtheneedforcleanlinesswhen
workingonhydraulicequipment.Contaminationcancauseexcessivewear
orbindingofhydrauliccomponents.
2.Beforetesting,checkcontrollinkagesforimproperadjustment,bindingor
brokenparts.
3.Allhydraulictestsshouldbemadewiththehydraulicuidatnormaloperating
temperature.
4.Putmetalcapsorplugsonanyhydrauliclinesleftopenorexposedduring
testingorcomponentremoval.
5.Whenusinghydraulictester(pressureandow),theinletandtheoutlet
hosesmustbeproperlyconnectedandnotreversedtopreventdamageto
thehydraulictesterorcomponents.
6.Installhydraulicttingsngertightandfarenoughtomakesurethattheyare
notcross-threadedbeforetighteningthemwithawrench.
7.Positiontesterhosestopreventrotatingmachinepartsfromcontactingand
damagingthehosesortester.
8.Afterconnectingtestequipment,checkuidlevelinthehydraulictankto
makesurethatuidleveliscorrect.
9.Whenusinghydraulictester(pressureandow),opentesterloadvalve
completelybeforestartingenginetominimizethepossibilityofdamaging
components.
10.Theenginemustbeingoodoperatingcondition.Useaphototacwhen
performingahydraulictest.Enginespeedcanaffecttheaccuracyofthe
testerreadings.Checkactualspeedofthepumpwhenperforminghydraulic
owtests.
