PrimingHydraulicPumps
Wheneverthehydraulicsystemisushed,thehydraulicsystemischargedor
hydrauliccomponentsareremoved,itisimportanttoproperlyprimethehydraulic
pumps.Hydraulicpumpprimingensuresthatthegearpumpandpiston(traction)
pumphaveadequateuidduringinitialstart−upandrunning.Thepumpscanbe
primedbyusingaremotestarterswitch(seeSpecialT ools(page2–13))tocrank
enginewhichallowsthepumpstoprime.
Usethefollowingproceduretoprimethehydraulicpumps:
1.MakesurethatkeyswitchisintheOFFpositionandkeyisremovedfrom
switch.
2.Checkhydraulicreservoiruidlevelandadjustifnecessary.
Note:Itmaynotbenecessarytoremovethewirefromthestartersolenoid
B+terminalwhenconnectingaremotestarterswitch.
