usinghydraulictestequipmentsuchaspressuregaugesandowmetersinthe
varioushydrauliccircuitstoperformvariousoperationalchecks(refertothe
SpecialT ools(page2–13)).
Rememberthatpressurespecicationsthatappearonhydraulicschematicsare
thedesignspecicationsforthespeciccomponent.Actualsystempressure
willvarydependingonuidtemperature,thelocationofthetestport,andthe
speciccomponentsusedinthehydrauliccircuit.
IMPORTANT
Thehydraulictestprocedureslistedinthismanualrepresentactual
performanceforthismachine.Tocorrectlymeasureproductor
componentperformance,besuretofollowthetestprocedures
provided.
BeforePerformingHydraulicTests
Allobviousareassuchasuidsupply,lter,bindinglinkages,loosefasteners,
orimproperadjustmentsmustbecheckedbeforeassumingthatahydraulic
componentisthesourceoftheproblem.
PrecautionsforHydraulicTesting
WARNING
Keepbodyandhandsawayfrompinholeleaksornozzlesthateject
hydraulicuidunderhighpressure.Donotusehandstosearch
forleaks;usepaperorcardboard.Hydraulicuidescapingunder
pressurecanhavesufcientforcetopenetratetheskinandcause
seriousinjury.Ifuidisinjectedintotheskin,itmustbesurgically
removedwithinafewhoursbyadoctorfamiliarwiththistypeof
injury.Gangrenemayresultfromsuchaninjury.
CAUTION
Failuretousegaugeswithrecommendedpressure(psi)ratingas
listedintestprocedurescouldresultindamagetothegaugeand
possiblepersonalinjuryfromleakinghothydraulicuid.
CAUTION
Alltestingshouldbeperformedbytwo(2)people.Oneperson
shouldbeintheseattooperatethemachine,andtheothershould
readandrecordtestresults.
