Thehightemperaturewarningswitch(Figure130)isattachedtothewaterpump
housingontheengineandhasagraywireattachedtoit.Thisswitchisnormally
openandcloseswhentheenginecoolanttemperaturereachesapproximately
105°C(220°F).Theclosedswitchcausesthehightemperaturewarninglighton
theconsoletoilluminateandalsoprovidesaninputtotheStandardControl
Module(SCM).
ThisinputcausestheSCMhightemperaturewarningLEDtoilluminateand
thecuttingunittoshutdown.Thehightemperaturewarningswitchandcircuit
wiringshouldbetestedasaSCMinputbeforeperformingthefollowingtesting
procedure.
Testing
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Unlatchthehoodandraiseit.
DANGER
Iftheradiatororengineishot,pressurizedhotcoolantcanescape
andcauseburns.
Donotopentheradiatorcapordraintheradiatorwhenthecoolant
ishot.Ensurethattheengineiscoolbeforeremovingthehigh
temperaturewarningswitchfromtheengine.
3.Lowerthecoolantlevelintheengine.
4.Removethewireharnessconnectorfromthehightemperaturewarning
switch,andremovetheswitchfromtheengine.
