Thehightemperatureshutdownswitch(Figure132)isattachedtothewater
pumphousingontheengineandhasablue/whitewireattachedtoit.This
switchisnormallyopenandcloseswhenenginecoolanttemperaturereaches
approximately110°C(230°F).Theclosedswitchprovidesaninputtothe
StandardControlModule(SCM).
ThisinputcausestheSCMhightemperatureshutdownLEDtoilluminateand
thecuttingdecktoshutdown.Thehightemperatureshutdownswitchand
circuitwiringshouldbetestedasaSCMinputbeforeperformingthefollowing
testingprocedure.
Testing
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Unlatchthehoodandraiseit.
DANGER
Iftheradiatororengineishot,pressurizedhotcoolantcanescape
andcauseburns.
Donotopentheradiatorcapordraintheradiatorwhenthecoolant
ishot.Ensurethattheengineiscoolbeforeremovingthehigh
temperatureshutdownswitchfromtheengine.
3.Lowerthecoolantlevelintheengine.
4.Removethewireharnessconnectorfromthehightemperatureshutdown
switch,andremovetheswitchfromtheengine.
