Theprecisionmachinedcomponentsofthecuttingunitframekeeptherearroller
andcuttingreelinalignment(parallel).Ifthesideplatesaredisassembledoras
thecuttingreelwears,alimitedamountofsideplateadjustmentispossibleto
makesurethatthecuttingunitisproperlyaligned.
1.Placetheassembledcuttingunitonasurfaceplate.
2.Makesurethatthebedknifeisproperlyadjustedtothecuttingreel.
3.Checkiftherearrollerisleveltothecuttingreelbyusinga0.13mm(0.005
in)feelergaugetodeterminetheclearancebetweenthesurfaceplateand
therearrollerateachendoftheroller.Astherearrollerisrotatedonefull
turn,checkifthefeelergaugewillconsistentlypassundertherolleratone
endbutwillnotpassundertheoppositeend.Checkrearrollerwiththefeeler
gaugejustinsidethemachinedendsoftheroller.Aframeadjustmentshould
bemadeifthereisconsistentlymorethan0.13mm(0.005in)clearance
undertherollerononeendbutnotontheother.
