Note:Wheninitiallystartingthehydraulicsystemwithneworrebuiltcomponents
suchasmotors,pumps,orliftcylinders,itisimportantthatthehydraulicsystem
bechargedproperly.Airmustbepurgedfromthesystemanditscomponentsto
reducethechanceofdamage.
IMPORTANT
Changehydraulicuidlterwheneverhydrauliccomponentsare
repairedorreplaced.
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface.Lowercuttingunits,disengagePTOswitch.
stopengine,andengageparkingbrake.Removekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Makesureallhydraulicconnections,lines,andcomponentsaresecured
tightly.
3.Ifcomponentfailurewassevereorthesystemiscontaminated,ushand
rellhydraulicsystemandtank(seeFlushHydraulicSystem(page5–65)).
4.Makesurehydraulictankisfull.Addcorrecthydraulicuidifnecessary.
5.Primehydraulicpumps(seePrimingHydraulicPumps(page5–64)).

Beforejackingupthemachine,reviewandfollowJacking
Instructions(page1–7).
6.Raiseall3wheelsofftheoorandsafelysupportthetractionunit.
IMPORTANT
Duringinitialoperation,checkhydraulicreservoiruidlevel
frequentlyandadduidasnecessary.
7.Makesuretractionpedalisinneutral.Sitintheoperator’sseatandstart
engineandletitidleatlowspeed.Thehydraulicpumpsshouldpickup
hydraulicuidandllthehydraulicsystem.Ifthereisnoindicationofllin30
seconds,stoptheengineanddeterminethecause.
8.Afterthehydraulicsystemstartstoshowsignsofll,actuateliftcontrolswitch
untiltheliftcylindersmoveinandoutseveraltimes.Ifthecylindersdonot
moveafter15secondsorthepumpemitsabnormalsounds,shuttheengine
offimmediatelyanddeterminecauseorproblem.Inspectforthefollowing:
A.Looselterorsuctionlines.
B.Incorrecthydraulichoserouting.
C.Blockedsuctionline.
D.Faultychargereliefvalveintractionpump.
E.Faultygearpump.
9.Operatethetractionpedalintheforwardandreversedirections.Thewheels
shouldrotateintheproperdirection.Ifthewheelsrotateinthewrong
direction,stopengine,removelinesfromrearofhydrostatpump,andreverse
theconnections.
10.Makesurethattractionpedalreturnstotheneutralpositionwhenreleased
fromtheforwardorreversedirection.
