Theneutralswitchisanormallyopenproximityswitchthatcloseswhenthe
tractionpedalisintheneutralposition.Theneutralswitchislocatedunderthe
oorplate(Figure115).
TheStandardControlModule(SCM)monitorsthepositionoftheneutralswitch
(openorclosed).Usinginputsfromtheneutralswitchandotherswitchesinthe
interlocksystem,theSCMcontrolstheenergizingoftheenginestartrelay,and
thefuelstopsolenoidandfuelpump.
Testing
1.Parkmachineonlevelsurface,lowercuttingunits,stopengine,applyparking
brakeandremovekeyfromkeyswitch.
2.Makesuretheneutralswitchisproperlyadjusted(seeNeutralSwitch(page
6–5)).
3.Beforedisconnectingtheswitchfortesting,theswitchanditscircuitwiring
shouldbetestedasaSCMinput.(seeStandardControlModule(SCM)
(page6–45)).Ifinputtestingveriesthattheswitchandcircuitwiringare
functioningcorrectly,nofurtherswitchtestingisnecessary.If,however,
inputtestingdeterminesthattheswitchandcircuitwiringarenotfunctioning
correctly,proceedwiththefollowingswitchtestingprocedure.
4.MakesurekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.Disconnectelectricalconnector
fromtheneutralswitch.
5.Checkthecontinuityoftheswitchbyconnectingamultimeter(ohmssetting)
acrosstheconnectorterminals.
