neutralpositionwithnoadditionalturning.
4.Ifeitheroftheseperformancetestsindicateasteeringproblem,determineif
thesteeringcylinderisfaultyusingthefollowingprocedure.
A.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfacewiththecuttingunitslowered,PTO
switchinthedisableposition,andtheparkingbrakeengaged.
B.Withtheenginerunning,turnthesteeringwheeltotheleft
(counterclockwise)untilthesteeringcylinderrodisfullyextendedand
turntheengineoff.
C.ReadPrecautionsforHydraulicTesting(page5–27).
D.Removethehydraulichosefromthettingontherodendofthesteering
cylinder.Plugtheendofthehoseremoved.
E.Withtheengineoff,continueturningthesteeringwheeltotheleft
(counterclockwise)withthesteeringcylinderfullyextended.Observethe
openttingonthesteeringcylinderasthewheelisturned.Ifhydraulic
uidcomesoutofthettingwhileturningthesteeringwheeltotheleft,the
steeringcylinderhasinternalleakageandmustberepairedorreplaced.
F.Removeplugfromthehydraulichoseandreconnectthehose.
5.Ifsteeringproblemexistsandsteeringcylinderpassedtest,performthe

5–55)andSteering/Lift/SidewinderCircuitT esting−ReliefValvePressure
Test(page5–58)tomakesurethatthesteeringcontrolvalveandcylinder
arereceivingadequateuidowandpressure.Basedontheresultsofthese
tests,repairorreplacesteeringcontrolvalveasnecessary(seeSteering
ControlValve(page5–133)andServicingtheSteeringControlValve(page
5–135)).
