Note:Theshimsreplacethecrushringinthecoverplate.Ifthecamplate,cover
plateorhousingisreplacedduringservicingofthepump,theoldcrushringcan
notbeusedtomakesureofproperpreload.
1.Removethecrushringfromthecoverplate.Measurethicknessofcrushring.
2.Stackshimstothethicknessofthecrushring.
3.Insertshimsintothecoverplateinthesamelocationthatthecrushring
wasremovedfrom.
4.Assemblehousingsubassemblyconsistingofthehousing,camplate,
bearingcone,bearingcupandcoverplate(seeEatonservicemanualfor
RepairInformation,Model70160VariableDisplacementPistonPump).
5.Installthewashersandcapscrewstothecoverplateandhousing.Torque
capscrewsto39N·m(29ft−lbs).
6.Checktorquerequiredtorotatecontrolshaft.T orqueshouldbefrom1.7to
2.8N·m(15to25in−lbs).
A.Iftorqueistoolow,addadditionalshimsandrepeatsteps3through6
untilthespeciedtorqueisachieved.
B.Iftorqueistoohigh,removeshimsandrepeatsteps3through6until
thespeciedtorqueisachieved.
