IMPORTANT
Notepositionoftheopenandclosedsideofthewearplatebefore
removingfromthefrontplate.
16.Removethewearplatefromfrontplate.RemoveO−ringfromfrontplate
usingO−ringpick.
17.Removetheback−upgasketandpressuresealfrombothwearplates.
IMPORTANT
Makesurenottodamagethecounterborewhenremovingtheshaft
sealfromthefrontplate.
18.Removetheshaftsealfromthefrontplateusingadriftpunch.
InspectingtheGearPump(Figure75)
1.Removeallnicksandburrsfromallpartswithanemerycloth.
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
2.Cleanallpartswithsolvent.Dryallpartswithcompressedair.
3.Inspectgear,drivegear,andidlergearsforthefollowing:
A.Drivegearshaftsplineshouldbefreeoftwistedorbrokenteeth.
B.Gearshaftsshouldbefreeofroughsurfacesandexcessivewearat
bushingpointsandsealingareas.
C.Gearshaftdiameterinthebushingareashouldnotbelessthan19.0
mm(0.748inch).
D.Gearsshouldbefreeofexcessivescoringandwear.
E.Makesurethatthedriveandidlergearshavetheirsnapringsinthe
groovesoneachside.
F.Breaksharpedgesofgearteethwithemerycloth.
G.Gearwidthonthedrivegearandfrontidlergearshouldnotbelessthan
9.75mm(0.384inch).Gearwidthonthebackgearandbackidlergear
shouldnotbelessthan6.20mm(0.244inch).
4.Inspectbodyforthefollowing:
A.Gearpocketsshouldbefreeofexcessivescoringandwear.
B.Insidediameterofgearpocketsshouldnotexceed43.7mm(1.719
inches).
5.Inspectfrontplate,backplate,andadapterplateasfollows:
A.Insidediameterofallbushingsshouldnotexceed19.2mm(0.755inch).
B.Bushingsinthefrontplateshouldextend3.20mm(0.126inch)from
theplatesurface.
