RemovingtheExhaustSystem
CAUTION
Themuferandexhaustpipemaybehot.Toavoidpossibleburns,
allowtheengineandexhaustsystemtocoolbeforeworkingonthe
mufer.
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingunits,stopengine,engage
parkingbrakeandremovekeyfromthekeyswitch.Raiseandsupporthood.
2.Removethefourangeheadbolts(item10inFigure13)thatsecuresthe
exhaustguard(11)totheframe.
3.Removethetwoangenuts(7)andbolts(3)thatsecuresthemufer(2)to
themuferbracket(9).
4.Removethefournuts(4)andlockwashers(5)fromtheexhaustmanifold
studs.Removethemufer(2)fromtheengine.
5.Removethegasket(6)fromtheexhaustmanifold.Discardthegasket.
InstallingtheExhaustSystem
Note:Makesurethatthemuferangeandexhaustmanifoldsealingsurfaces
arefreeofdebrisordamagethatmaypreventatightseal.
1.Placethenewgasket(6)ontheexhaustmanifold.
2.Installthemufer(2)ontotheengineandsecurewithfourlockwashers
(5)andnuts(4).
IMPORTANT
Fingertightenallnutsbeforesecuringthemufer(2)tothemufer
bracket(9)sothereisnopreloadontheexhaustmanifold.
3.Securemufer(2)tothemuferbracket(9)withtwoangeheadbolts(3)
andnuts(7).
4.Securetheexhaustguard(11)totheframewithfourangeheadbolts(10).
5.Lowerandsecurehoodafterexhaustsysteminstallationiscomplete.
