inplace.
•Usedieselfuelasanenginefuelonly,notforanyotherpurpose.
CheckingtheFuelLinesandConnections
CheckfuellinesandconnectionsperiodicallyasrecommendedintheTraction
UnitOperator’sManual.Checklinesfordeterioration,damage,leakageorloose
connections.Replacefuelhoses,clampsandconnectionsasnecessary.
DrainandCleanFuelTank
DrainandcleanthefueltankperiodicallyasrecommendedintheTraction
UnitOperator’sManual.Also,drainandcleanthefueltankifthefuelsystem
becomescontaminatedorifthemachineistobestoredforanextendedperiod.
Note:Followalllocalcodesandregulationswhenrecyclingordisposingwaste
fuel.
Tocleanfueltank,ushtankoutwithcleansolvent.Ensurethatthetankis
freeofallcontaminatesanddebris.
PrimingtheFuelSystem
Thefuelsystemneedstobeprimedbeforestartingtheengineforthersttime,
afterrunningoutoffuel,orafterfuelsystemmaintenance(e.g.,drainingthe
fuel/waterseparator,replacingthefuellterorafuelhose).T oprimethefuel
system,ensurethatthefueltankhasfuelinit.Then,turnthekeyswitchto
theRUNpositionfor10to15seconds,whichallowsthefuelpumptoprime
thefuelsystem.DonotturnthekeyswitchtotheSTARTpositiontoprimethe
fuelsystem.
RemovingtheFuelTank
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingunits,stopengine,engage
parkingbrakeandremovekeyfromthekeyswitch.Raiseandsupporthood.
2.Removethenegativebatterycablefromthenegativepostofthebattery.
3.Allowtheenginetocompletelycool.
4.Drainfuelfromthetankintoasuitablecontainer.Ifnecessary.
5.Removeseatandseatsupportstrapsfromtheframe.Disconnectseatswitch
fromtheelectricalharness;refertoRemovingtheSeat(page7–7).
6.Forassemblypurposes,labelfuelhoses.Removethefuelhosestrapand
bothfuelhosesfromthefueltank.Pullthefueltankfromthemachine;refer
toFigure14.
