5.12 VPCMA-70 Hub Canceller
5.12.1 Overview
The VPCMA-70 is a 19-inch rack-mounted unit manufactured by
ViaSat that contains the components necessary to allow outbound and
inbound satellite signals to operate in the same satellite bandwidth.
The unit interfaces with digital satellite modems using a 70 MHz IF,
and consists of a chassis, power supply, fans, front panel control /
display assembly, and a main circuit board.
This information is provided as a convenience for the user. For more
comprehensive information on the VPCMA-70 refer to the VPCMA-70
User’s Guide.
The PCMAHC supports the following services for its control and
management:
ICMP
Telnet Server
FTP Server
SNMP Agent
LEDs/Front Panel Indicators
5.12.1.1 ICMP
The PCMAHC provides an ICMP application so that “Ping” can be used
to test for proper PCMAHC IP connectivity.
5.12.1.2 Telnet Server
The PCMAHC provides a Telnet server application to access the Linux
operating system and various PCMAHC software and configuration files.
Only ‘root’ access is allowed.
5.12.1.3 File Transfer Protocol Server (FTP)
The PCMAHC provides an FTP server application to allow file transfer
into and out of the PCMAHC for configuration. Only ‘root’ access is
allowed.
5.12.1.4 SNMP Agent
The PCMAHC provides the SNMP agent used to obtain configuration
and status, as well as allowing the operator to change the configuration
of the PCMAHC remotely if necessary. PCMAHC supports system and
interface groups of MIB-II as well as proprietary PCMAHC ViaSat, Inc.
MIB that can be obtained from ViaSat, Inc.
5.12.1.5 Front Panel and LCD Screen
The PCMAHC front panel provides the controls and indicators
shown in
Figure 5-37 and described in more detail in the VPCMA-
70 User Guide and ArcLight Hub Installation and Maintenance
Guide.
Table 5-14 lists the functions of the front panel controls and
indicators.
