Installing
Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings.
– Remove old sealant from grooves on sump (top section)
and from sealing surfaces.
– Remove sealant residue from sump (top section) and cylin-
der block with rotating plastic brush or similar.
– Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.
– Cut off tube nozzle at front marking (nozzle approx. 1.5
mm ∅).
– Install seals -1- and -2- in top section of sump.
– Apply beads of sealant -arrows- onto clean sealing surface
of sump (top section) as illustrated.
• The grooves -arrows- on the sealing surfaces must be com-
pletely filled with sealant.
• The beads of sealant must project 1.5 … 2.0 mm above
the sealing surface.
♦ The sealant beads must not be thicker than specified, oth-
erwise excess sealant could enter the sump and clog the
strainer in the oil pump.
♦ The sump (top section) must be installed within 5 minutes
after applying sealant.
