In this chapter, the setting of the joystick and the
corresponding navigation maneuvers are illustrated for one
direction on the relevant axis of movement. Those
illustrations apply correspondingly for the maneuvers in
the opposite direction.
Function test of the control head
1. Activate a control head by pushing its COM-key twice. The
levers must be in neutral position. Buzzer and COM-LEDs of
all other control stations should switch off. The COM-LED at
the control head must remain lit.
2. Move the control head lever slowly forward. The clutch must
engage and the ship start to move slowly ahead.
3. As soon as the ship starts to move, reset the control head
lever to the neutral position.
4. Move the control head lever slowly to astern. The clutch
must engage and the ship start to move slowly backward.
5. As soon as the ship starts to move, reset the control head
lever in the neutral position.
6. If the ship provides two engines, carry out the test with one
propulsion side at a time while the other engine is switched
off.
Function test of the thruster mode
1. Push the thruster key at a joystick. The thruster status
indicator must light up and remain lit.
2. If the ship is equipped with a bow thruster only, move the
joystick gently to the left and right. Observe if the thruster
starts up and the bow starts to move in the same direction
