INTAKE COVER ASSEMBLY 2.38
REMOVAL
NOTE
The "X-Guard" on XB9SX is a non replaceable part.
1. Remove seat. See 2.44 SEAT.
NOTE
See Figure 2-123. Models with molded in color intake covers
use four fasteners with nylon washers (3) to secure intake
cover.
2. See Figure 2-123. Remove rear fasteners and nylon
washers (3), front fasteners (4) with top hat bushings and
isolator washers.
3. Remove intake cover assembly (2).
INSTALLATION
1. Position intake cover assembly (2) over top of air cleaner
cover.
NOTE
Front fasteners go in at a slight angle.
2. See Figure 2-123. Start the front two fasteners (4) with
top hat bushings and isolator washers.
3. Install the remaining fasteners and nylon washers (3).
Tighten all fasteners to 12-36 in-lbs (1.3-4 Nm).

After installing seat, pull upward on front of seat to be
sure it is in locked position. While riding, a loose seat can
shift causing loss of control, which could result in death
or serious injury. (00070a)
4. Install seat. See 2.44 SEAT.
