Tires must be correctly matched to wheel rims. Use only
Buell approved tires. See a Buell dealer. Using non-
approved tires can adversely affect stability, which could
result in death or serious injury. (00133a)
See Figure 2-1. Tire sizes are molded on the sidewall. Rim
size and contour are marked on the rim’s exterior surface.
Example: J17 x 3.5 MT DOT

J designates the tire and rim standard.
●
17 is the normal diameter of the rim in inches, measured
at the bead seat diameter.
●
3.5 is the width of the bead seat measured in inches.
●
MT designates the rim type.
●
DOT means that the rim meets Department of Transpor-
tation Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Refer to
Table 2-7.
