TIRE SPECIFICATIONS 2.2

Match tires, tubes, air valves and caps to the correct
wheel rim. Contact a Harley-Davidson dealer. Mismatch-
ing can result in damage to the tire bead, allow tire slip-
page on the rim or cause tire failure, which could result
in death or serious injury. (00023a).
Tire sizes are molded on the sidewall. Rim size and contour
are marked on the rim’s exterior surface.
Example:
MT 2.5 x 16.0 DOT

designates the rim contour.

is the width of the bead seat measured in inches.
●
16.0
is the normal diameter of the rim in inches, mea-
sured at the bead seat diameter.
●
DOT
means that the rim meets Department of Transpor-
tation Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
