Gettingonandoffthemachine

Inspectstepsandhandholdstoensuretheyareingood
workingorder.
•
Usetherecommendedhandholdsandstepswithat
leastthreepointsofsupportwhengettingonandoff
themachine.Thedoormustbelatchedandsecuredin
theopenpositionbeforeusingthedoorhandhold.
•
Facethemachineandusethehandholdsandsteps
adheringtoathree-pointaccesssystemwhenclimbing
upanddown.
•
Donotjumpoffthemachine.
•
Donotdismountwhilethemachineisinmotion.
•
Foreignmaterialorgreaseonthesteps,platformand
handrailscancauseanaccident.Keepsteps,platform
andhandrailsclean.

Startingandstoppingprecautions
•
Walkaroundthemachineandwarnallpersonnelwho
maybeservicingthemachineorareinthemachine
pathpriortostarting.Donotstartuntilallpersonnel
areclearlyawayfromthemachine.Soundthehorn,if
equipped,beforestarting.
•
Walkaroundthemachine’stool,attachment,orfurther-
mostcontactpointtoviewoperationdangerareafrom
theworksitepersonnel’sviewandangle.
•
Checkthattheparkingdeviceisapplied,placethe
transmissioninneutralorparkasspeciedbythe
manufacturer,beforestartingthemachine.
•
Adjust,secureandlatchtheseatandfastentheseat
beltbeforestartingthemachine.
•
Startandoperatethemachineonlyfromtheoperator's
station.
•
Donotbypassthemachine'sneutral-startsystem.The
neutral-startsystemmustberepairedifitmalfunctions.
•
Usebatteryboostercablesonlyintherecommended
manner.Improperusecanresultinbatteryexplosion
orunexpectedmachinemotion.Ventilatethebattery
areabeforeusingboostercables.
•
Donotoperatetheengineinanenclosedareawithout
adequateventilation.
•
Parkthemachineonlevelgroundwheneverpossible
andapplytheparkingbrake.Ongrades,parkthema-
chinewiththewheelssecurelyblocked.
•
Beforeleavingtheoperator'sstation,lowerthebucket/
attachmenttothegroundandshutofftheengine.
•
Removethestarterkeyand/orusethetimeddiscon-
nectswitchwhenleavingthemachineparkedorunat-
tended.
