D-Show Guide22
When D-Show is in Variable Groups mode, the switches for
Aux 1–2 through Aux 7–8 can be used to select Variable Group
sends, and use the Encoder 1 to control the Variable Group
send on/off, level, and pan parameters.
Aux Pan With stereo-linked Auxes or Variable Groups, the
first press of this switch selects the level control for the Aux or
Variable Group bus pair (green LED) and the second press se-
lects the pan/balance control for the pair (yellow LED). When
the Aux or Variable Group pair is following Main pan, the sec-
ond press is not available. For more information, see “Aux Bus
Signal Flow Options” on page 76.
Pan mode is indicated by the single-dot LED ring light pat-
tern. Stereo-linked busses use a yellow color backlight in their
name displays in the Outputs section to indicate stereo link-
ing.
FLIP When enabled, the current encoder parameter is mapped
to the channel faders. It can still be controlled from the en-
coder row, so the channel fader mirrors the setting. When Flip
is engaged, all channel name display backlights turn yellow,
the same color as the flip switch.
Display The 6-character display shows information about the
currently selected function.
Encoder 2 Assignment Switches and Functions
The Encoder 2 Assignment switches assign the following func-
tions to Encoder 2 on each input channel strip:
Pan/Bal Assigns the encoders to control channel Pan if the
channel is mono, or stereo channel balance if a stereo. The in-
dicator LED lights when the pan is at center.
Width (Stereo Channels Only) Assigns the encoders to control
the ganged pan positions of Left channel and Right channel at
the same time, but in opposite directions. Turning clockwise
moves the pans towards full stereo, turning counter-clockwise
moves the pans toward reverse-stereo. Since width is only ap-
plicable to stereo strips, this control is disabled when the asso-
ciated input strip is mono.
Gain Assigns the encoders to control input gain according to
the range available for this input. Pressing that holding the
encoder initiates Gain Guess, in which D-Show automatically
sets a nominal input gain level based on the incoming signal.
Right Offset (Stereo Channels Only) Assigns the encoders to
control the gain offset of the right channel relative to the left.
The offset ranges from –20 dB to +20 dB at the maximum but
this range can be restricted depending on the current Gain set-
ting.
AUX 1•2 to AUX 15•16 Same as in Encoder 1 Assignment
panel (see “Encoder 1 Assignment Switches and Functions” on
page 21).
Flip Same as Encoder 1 Assignment panel (see “Encoder 1 As-
signment Switches and Functions” on page 21).
Display The 6-character display shows information about the
currently selected function.
Insert In Switch
This switch toggles the hardware insert in and out of circuit (if
assigned). If the switch is lit, the process is in circuit. Insert
sends and returns are assigned in the Patchbay. On Inputs, the
insert send is always sending. This switch does not affect in-
serted plug-ins. Plug-ins can be bypassed individually in the
Assignable Channel Section.
It is not possible to flip controls for both sets of encoders at
once, and the last-pushed Flip switch overrides any previ-
ous Flip state.
