A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is the extension of a
private network that encompasses links across shared
or public networks like the Internet. In short, by VPN
technology, you can send data between two
computers across a shared or public network in a
manner that emulates the properties of a point-to-
point private link.
It is a form of VPN that can be used with a standard
Web browser.
A digital certificate works as an
electronic ID, which is issued by a
certification authority (CA). It
contains information such as your
name, a serial number, expiration
dates etc., and the digital signature of
the certificate-issuing authority so
that a recipient can verify that the
certificate is real. Here Vigor router
support digital certificates conforming
to standard X.509.
