6.17 Discrete I/O Settings
The I/O interface on the Communication Unit has two configurable I/O pins. You can
set up the function of each pin in the Web interface.
6.17.1 How to enable the ignition function
The ignition function can be used to turn on/off the Communication Unit by means of
an external signal. The external signal that triggers the ignition function is positive DC
voltage, however the switch at the back of the Communication Unit must be turned on.
The ignition function uses pin 8.
Note: When this function is enabled, the system cannot be turned on unless an igni-
tion signal is received.
1. Referring to section 6.1, login as an Administrator.
2. Click [Admin] in the menu bar.
3. Click [Discrete I/O Settings] to show the [Discrete I/O Settings] menu.
4. Put a [9] in the box on the left side of [Enabled] (click the box to add [9]) in the
[Ignition] field to activate ignition function.
To deactivate this function, uncheck the [9] in the box (click the box to delete [9]).
5. Input the delay time in the [Power off delay] field if you are using the ignition func-
tion and you want the Communication Unit to stay on for a few minutes after the
Ignition is switched off.
This menu appears in gray when the [Ignition] menu is deactivated.
6. Click the [Apply] button.
The message "Applied." appears.
7. Click the [Close] button to close the message.
