2.5 The Own Ship Icon
2.5.1 Description
The own ship l icon (red) marks current position and moves
according to your vessel’s movement. The following infor-
mation also appears with the own ship icon.
• The heading line is a straight line that runs from your po-
sition and shows the current heading.
• The COG vector is a vector line that runs from the own
vessel icon and points in the direction in which your ves-
sel is now moving.
• The turn direction indicator points in the direction your
vessel is turning, starboard or port. in the figure to the
right, the starboard turn indicator is shown.
2.5.2 How to show or hide the COG vector, heading line
Tap the own ship icon to show the pop-up menu.
Set [COG] or [HDG] to [ON] or [OFF] as required. The turn
direction indicator is also turned on or off with [COG].
Note 1: The color of the COG vector (including the turn di-
rection indicator) can be changed. Go to the home screen,
then select [Settings] → [Ship & Track] → [COG Vector Col-
or].
Note 2: The thickness of the heading line can be changed.
Go to the home screen, then select [Settings]→[Ship &
Track]→[Heading Line Thickness]. Set the thickness with
the software keyboard or slider bar. [1] is thinnest; [5] is
thickest.
2.5.3 COG vector length
The COG vector can be set to show one of the following:
• Position after traveling the distance set in the menu.
• Estimated position after traveling the time set in the menu.
The tip of the vector is the estimated position of your ship at the end of the selected
time or distance. The greater the distance or the time, the longer the COG vector. To
change the COG vector length, do the following.
1. Open the home screen, then tap [Settings]→[Ship & Track]→[COG Vector].
