CRASH SWITCH
Fig. 152. Scanner Crash Switch
The crash switch is concealed under the beam covers of the scanner frame. It is not visible
from the outside of the scanner frame. By reaching your fingers under the cover, you can
feel the mechanism.
To clear the crashed state and restore the normal scanning operation, do the following:
1. Move the heads off the crash switch by pushing the heads towards the sheet and
away from the scanner frame end. Use two hands, one on each head.
The crash switches are spring-loaded. They return power to the scanner drive motor
once the heads are pushed away from the crash switch.
2. Once you have cleared the crash switch condition, press the OFFSHEET button from
the scanner or the console to clear this emergency condition.
NOTE
Always check the status of all crash switches if you experience difficulties
with the scanner.
Motor Torque
The motor torque is set at the factory and confirmed at installation. It is set to ensure that
the heads can be stopped manually with moderate force from an individual, while still
having enough torque for smooth scanning. This limits the potential harm to an individual.
Refer to your scanner maintenance manual for more information. If needed, authorized
and qualified personnel can adjust the motor torque.
