SCANNER SAFETY AND LOCAL CONTROLS
6510020335

Fig. 32. User Panel Key
Purpose:
Keys provide access control to:
scanner internals protected by panels and doors
head gap surfaces through head split switch
safety-related sensor interlock operations such as nuclear, X-ray, and laser sources
ATTENTION
Only authorized personnel should have access to scanner keys.
2.3.2 Electrical Safety Features
2.3.2.1 Lockout/Tagout provisions
Description:
Electrical LOTO locations are accessible at various locations in the scanner electrical
system using:
Breaker hasps: Breaker lockout is useful for locking out specific scanner sub-
circuits, for example, the motor, while keeping others, for example, the sensors,
operational for testing.
Scanner stop button hasps (optional, not included).
Mill main power breaker: This is the safest level of protection because it cuts all
power feeding the scanner, and permits work on main power connections.
Cable end main power disconnect switch lock ring: Disconnects power to all
electrical subsystems of the scanner. The power feed to the scanner is still live to
switch and input terminal blocks in the cable end cabinet (see Figure 33).
