Laser eye safety is controlled by an interlock key switch and enable button on the user
panel (see Figure 24). Additionally, software and hardware interlocks ensure that sensors
are properly mounted and aligned, and that software controls are properly functioning.

Some sensors might use non-laser forms of high intensity LED or SLED lighting that are
also covered by the interlock key and enable button on this row of the user panel.
Not all laser lighting is in the visible spectrum. Invisible IR-based lasers are typically more
hazardous because they do not trigger a blink response.
Table 5 summarizes laser radiation hazards, warnings, and safety precautions to be used
in systems with a laser-based sensor.
