To upgrade from 256K to 512K
If you already have a 256K module installed in Bank 0,
you only need to insert a 256K module into Bank 1. A
properly-inserted module looks like this:
Resetting the jumper when
installing cache memory
Your computer comes with a jumper preset for the old
amount of cache memory. If you install cache memory,
you may
need to reset (move) the cache memory
jumper. This jumper is labeled on your system board as
JP6.
Use the following table to determine whether you need
to reset this jumper.
If your computer
currently has:

two empty cache
memory sockets
one
256K cache memory
module
do not reset
the jumper
two empty cache
memory sockets
two
256K cache memory
modules (for a total of
512K)
reset JP6
one cache memory
module installed
(256K), and one
empty socket
