■ Tone squelch operation
The tone squelch opens only when receiving a signal
containing a matching subaudible tone. You can silently
wait for calls from group members using the same tone.
[AM/FM][F-1•Y] [F-2•Z] Main dial
[F-4•DEF][TONE]
q Set the desired frequency band and select FM
mode.
w Push [TONE] to turn the tone squelch function ON.
 •“TSQL”appears
e Hold down [TONE] for 1 second to tone frequency
set mode.
rPush[F-1•Y]or[F-2•Z] to select T-SQL TONE
item.
t Rotate the main dial to select the desired tone
squelch frequency.
 •Holddown[F-4•DEF]for1secondtoselectthedefault
setting.
y Push [EXIT/SET] to return to the previous indica-
tion.
u When the received signal includes a matching tone,
squelch opens and the signal can be heard.
 •Whenthereceivedsignal’stonedoesnotmatch,tone
squelch does not open, however, the S-indicator shows
signal strength.
 •Toopenthesquelchmanually,push[XFC].
i Operate the transceiver in the normal way.
o To cancel the tone squelch, push [TONE] to clear
“TSQL.”
