Weatherchanneloperation(USAversiononly)
There are 10 weather channels for monitoring the NOAA
(National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administra-
tion) weather broadcasts.

Touch [QUICK]. q
Touch “Weather CH” to select the Weather channel w
mode.
The selected weather channel number (“WX-01” to “WX-
10”) is displayed.
Rotate [DIAL] to select the desired weather chan- e
nel.
Touch “Weather CH OFF” on the Quick Menu screen to
return to the previous frequency or Memory channel.
D Weatheralertfunction
NOAA broadcast stations transmit weather alert tones
before important weather announcements.
When the weather alert function is turned ON, the se-
lected weather channel is monitored every 5 seconds
for an announcement.
When an alert signal is detected, the “ALT” and the WX
channel are alternately displayed, and a beep sounds
until you change the operating mode or weather chan-
nel, turn OFF the Weather Alert function, or turn OFF
the transceiver.
The previously selected (used) weather channel is
checked periodically during standby, or while scan-
ning.

If the item is not displayed, touch [] or [] one or more
times to select the page.
Touch “ON. e
Turns ON the Weather Alert function.
Select the VFO, a Memory or Call channel to set the r
desired standby mode.
• “WX” appears when “ON” is selected in step e.
• Scan or priority watch operation can also be selected.
