4. Grasp the handle on the fan module and pull rmly to slide the fan module halfway out of the
chassis.
WARNING: To avoid injury, do not touch the fan with your hands or any tools as you
slide the fan module out of the chassis—the fan might sll be running.
5. When the fan stops spinning, slide the fan module completely out of the chassis.
6. Place the fan module in the anstac bag or on the anstac mat placed on a at, stable surface. See
Figure 40 on page 106.

NOTE: When a fan module is removed, the CLI message Fan/Blower is Absent is logged in the
system log, and the system raises a minor alarm.
Install a Fan Module in the PTX10001-36MR
Before you install a fan module in a PTX10001-36MR, ensure that you have taken the necessary
precauons to prevent electrostac discharge (ESD) damage (see "Prevenon of Electrostac Discharge
Damage" on page 173).
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
ESD grounding strap
Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 1
