4. Grasp the handle on the fan module and pull rmly to slide the fan module halfway out of the
chassis.
WARNING: To avoid injury, do not touch the fan with your hands or any tools as you
slide the fan module out of the chassis—the fan might sll be running.
5. When the fan stops spinning, slide the fan module completely out of the chassis.
6. Place the fan module in the anstac bag or on the anstac mat placed on a at, stable surface. See
Figure 40 on page 106.

NOTE: When a fan module is removed, the CLI message Fan/Blower is Absent is logged in the
system log, and the system raises a minor alarm.
Install a Fan Module in the PTX10001-36MR
Before you install a fan module in a PTX10001-36MR, ensure that you have taken the necessary
precauons to prevent electrostac discharge (ESD) damage (see "Prevenon of Electrostac Discharge
Damage" on page 173).
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
• ESD grounding strap
• Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 1
