PTX10001-36MR System Soware
The PTX10001-36MR runs Junos OS Evolved, which provides Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, roung,
and security services. Junos OS Evolved runs navely on Linux, giving it direct access to all the Linux
ulies and operaons. It is designed to be modular, allowing for upgrades to be done on a component-
by-component basis without a system reboot. Only those components changed are restarted. Junos OS
Evolved is easily portable and minimal work is required to make it work on any plaorm. It has the same
CLI user interface, the same code base for applicaons and features, and the same management and
automaon tools as Junos OS. However, the Junos OS Evolved infrastructure is enrely modernized,
giving you the high availability, portability, faster innovaon, and simplied upgrades you need.

Port Panel and Management Panel
The front panel of the PTX10001-36MR contains 36 network ports, port LEDs, console and
management ports, and system status LEDs. Figure 1 on page 4 shows the PTX10001-36MR front
panel.
