You can mount a PTX10001-36MR:
• On four posts of a 19-in. rack or a 19-in. cabinet by using the mounng brackets provided with the
device.
• On two posts of a 19-in. rack or a 19-in. cabinet. A two-post rack mount kit must be ordered
separately.
For four-post rack installaon, there are two front mount rails with two matching rear mount blades.
This conguraon allows either end of the device to be mounted ush with the rack and sll be
adjustable for racks with dierent depths. The minimum distance the front and rear rack rails can be
spaced apart is 23.6 in. (60 cm) front to back. The maximum distance the front and rear rack rails can be
spaced apart is 31.5 in. (80 cm) front to back. (The remainder of this topic uses rack to mean rack or
cabinet.)
Before You Begin Rack Installaon
Before you begin mounng a PTX10001-36MR in the rack:
1. Ensure that you understand how to prevent electrostac discharge (ESD) damage. See "Prevenon of
Electrostac Discharge Damage" on page 173.
2. Verify that the site meets the requirements described in "PTX10001-36MR Site Preparaon
Checklist" on page 47.
3. Place the rack in its permanent locaon, allowing adequate clearance for airow and maintenance,
and secure it to the building structure.
4. Read "General Safety Guidelines and Warnings" on page 148 and "PTX10001-36MR Installaon
Safety Guidelines" on page 77.
5. Remove the PTX10001-36MR from the shipping carton (see "Unpack the PTX10001-36MR" on page
78 ).
