You can mount a PTX10001-36MR:
• On four posts of a 19-in. rack or a 19-in. cabinet by using the mounng brackets provided with the
device.
• On two posts of a 19-in. rack or a 19-in. cabinet. A two-post rack mount kit must be ordered
separately.
For four-post rack installaon, there are two front mount rails with two matching rear mount blades.
This conguraon allows either end of the device to be mounted ush with the rack and sll be
adjustable for racks with dierent depths. The minimum distance the front and rear rack rails can be
spaced apart is 23.6 in. (60 cm) front to back. The maximum distance the front and rear rack rails can be
spaced apart is 31.5 in. (80 cm) front to back. (The remainder of this topic uses rack to mean rack or
cabinet.)
Before You Begin Rack Installaon
Before you begin mounng a PTX10001-36MR in the rack:
1. Ensure that you understand how to prevent electrostac discharge (ESD) damage. See "Prevenon of
Electrostac Discharge Damage" on page 173.
2. Verify that the site meets the requirements described in "PTX10001-36MR Site Preparaon
Checklist" on page 47.
3. Place the rack in its permanent locaon, allowing adequate clearance for airow and maintenance,
and secure it to the building structure.
4. Read "General Safety Guidelines and Warnings" on page 148 and "PTX10001-36MR Installaon
Safety Guidelines" on page 77.
5. Remove the PTX10001-36MR from the shipping carton (see "Unpack the PTX10001-36MR" on page
78 ).
