Radarisusedtoprovideinformationthatcanhelp
youtotracktargetsandmeasuredistancesand
bearings.
RadioDetectionAndRanging(RADAR)isusedat
seatodetectthepresenceofobjects(knownas
‘targets’)atadistance,andiftheyaremoving,detect
theirspeed.
Radarworksbytransmittingradiopulses,then
detectingreectionsofthesepulses(echoes)from
objectsintheareaanddisplayingthereectionsas
targetsonyourdisplay.
Untilyouarefamiliarwithinterpretingtheradar
display,everyopportunityshouldbetakento
comparetheradarscreenpatternswithvisual
targets,suchasotherboats,buoysandcoastal
structures.Youshouldpractiseharborandcoastal
navigationduringdaylighthoursandinclearweather
conditions.
HDandSuperHDradar
Yourmultifunctiondisplaycanbeusedwithradar
scanners.
HDandSuperHDradarscannersprovidearange
ofadvantages,makingiteasiertodiscernobjects
aroundyourvessel.
HDandSuperHDradarscannersprovide:
•Improvedtargetdetection.
•Full-colorimage.
•DualRangeoperation.
•SuperHDoption.Thiseffectivelyincreasesthe
transmitterpowerbyafactorofatleast2,and
reducesthebeamwidthbyasimilaramount.
Note:YoumustconnectaSuperHDradarscanner
inordertousetheSuperHDoption.
Multipleradarscanners
Themultifunctiondisplayonlysupportstheuseof
1radaronthenetwork.
Whentheradarapplicationisopened,ifmultiple
radarscannersaredetectedthenawarning
messageshallbedisplayed.Additionalscanners
willneedtoberemovedfromthenetworkbeforethe
radarapplicationwillfunction.
