38.Remove the fuel injector harness

and oil pump
connector
3&
from the wiring harness. Remove the
connectors from the connector placement bracket.
NOTICE
Do not attempt to disconnect the fuel injectors from the
sub harness.
39.Remove the cable ties

from the wire support.
NOTICE
Do not remove the cable tie securing the support to the
coolant hose.
40.Remove the exhaust manifold. Exhaust manifold
removal will make engine removal easier but it will
come out without removal.
41.If the vehicle is equipped with Electric start, remove
the pinion / pinion bracket assembly, flex drive, and
starter motor. See Starter Motor / Flex Drive Service
page 10.91.
42.If cooling system was not previously drained, place a
drain pan under the engine.
43.Remove the coolant bottle cap.
44.Drain the coolant system by removing the coolant
hoses from the water pump cover.
45.Remove the coolant hose

from the cylinder head.
46.Place a rag under the fuel line connectors
4)
and
disconnect the fuel lines on the mag side of the
engine by unlatching the disconnect locks on the lines
and pulling them apart.
47.Disconnect the TPS sensor connector

from the
wiring harness and remove the connectors from the
connector placement bracket.
