Slide Scanner Repair Manual Diagnostics and Troubleshooting

Example 2 - Figure 5-14 shows an example of a scanner needing both mag and tilt
adjustments.
The peak misalignment of 1.93 pixels is out of spec by almost a full pixel. Looking at the
graphs you see fairly well balanced sinusoids but, the right side is shifted up from the ideal
of 0.0 to 1.29. A tilt adjustment will bring the left side up to the 0.6 point and the right side
down to 0.6.
The mag adjustment will shift both the left and right sides down even closer to the ideal of 0.0
and lower the Mean vertical misalignment number that now stands at 0.60. Once these two
adjustments are made, there is an excellent chance that the Motion/Color Registration test will
pass because the “Peak swing” of 1.93 will go from -0.95 to + 0.95 which is within the
specification.
