Lower PCA (LPCA) Replacement
This procedure provides instruction to replace the Lower PCA

or commonly referred to as
the LPCA
2
.
Procedure
Review entire procedure before starting.
WARNING:Care must be taken when work is being performed in the area of the
stairarms. Pinch points exist between the stairarm and ramp and between the
stairarm and crankarm, when the rear covers are removed.
CAUTION:Electronic components and PCA

boards are susceptible to damage
from an ESD
4
event. Always use ESD precautions (properly grounded anti-static
wrist-strap and anti-static mat) when handling or servicing printed circuit boards.
Removal
1. Switch the power OFF and unplug

the power cord.
2. Remove these rear drive covers: the drive cover access panel, top, left, and right
drive covers (see "Covers and Panels Replacement" on page75).
3. Remove the LPCA cover. Pull from the top of the cover to unsnap the clips and lift to
remove.

lower board. On treadmills, it is the console to base function interface and the motor con-
troller unit (MCU). On self-powered units, it is the lower PCA console to base function inter-
face.

Disconnect a device power cord plug or cable connector from the power receptacle or out-
let.
