Input Drive Assembly Adjustment
About
This procedure verifies that the input drive assembly components, the drive belt, the step-up
belt, and the eddy current magnet are correctly adjusted. All of the checks described in this
procedure must be performed to ensure proper operation. Do this procedure when the
machine drive system speed and resistance functions are not operating normally.
Procedure
1. Switch the power OFF and unplug
1
the power cord.
2. Remove these rear drive covers: the drive cover access panel, top, left, and right
drive covers (see "Covers and Panels Replacement" on page75).
3. Remove the left and right stairarms from the crankarms, "Stairarm Assembly Replace-
ment" on page163.

4. Measure the distance from the crankarm to the side of the frame weldment for both
the left and right sides.
a. If the two measurements are different by more than 1/16 inch, you must use the
"pillow block bearing replacement tool" to adjust the input drive axle alignment.
Loosen, but do not remove, the left and right pillow block bolts (2x each)
enough to allow the input drive axle to slide left and right. Go to the "Pillow
Block Bearing Replacement" installation procedure to make alignment adjust-
ments, see "Pillow Block Bearing Replacement" on page155.
