Configuring TCP/IP Keep Alive
Although optional, we recommend that you set the TCP/IP Keep-Alive time to 1 minute. This is the
minimum value that can be set; the default is 120 minutes (2 hours). Setting the value to 1 minute causes
System i to detect a lost printer connection faster.
To change the keep alive time, enter the command CHGTCPA. Change the first entry as shown below:
TCP keep alive . . . . . . 1
Please note that changing the TCP/IP Keep-Alive time changes all the System i settings.
