Sharing the PSF/400 Printer on the Network
To support printer sharing, the printer automatically switches among all logical ports. Basically, the
printer prints one job at a time, and chooses the next job from the highest priority port. If the client does
not end a job, then the printer applies the timeout value set for the print port.
To change the "time out" value, update the timeout value on Web Image Monitor for the appropriate
port.

Sharing the printer with other non-IPDS host systems using MID
Configure the System i to use MID (Managed IPDS Dialog) in order for the printer to be shared between
the IPDS System i system and other non-IPDS systems, such as desktop PCs. The following PSF
configuration parameters must be set on the System i in order for it to support MID requests from the
printer.
Here is a System i example with MID Enabled:

Configure the System i without MID in order for the printer to be shared between multiple IPDS host
systems. This configuration can also be used for sharing the printer with desktop PCs. The following PSF
configuration does not grant MID requests from the printer.
