8.2.2 Temperature setting (specified setpoint)
There are three ways to set the sealing temperature:
In menu number101
By applying voltage of 0 … 10 VDC to the analog input, terminals36+39
By connecting a 2-kΩ potentiometer (e.g. PD-3) to the terminals5, 18, 36

The correlation between the voltage applied and the setpoint temperature is linear.
Voltage values
0 VDC: 0°C
10 VDC: 300°C or 500°C (depending on device configuration)
A graph illustrating this correlation can be found in section Temperature display / ac-
tual value output. If the sealing temperature is to be specified via voltage at the analog
input, terminals 36+39, set the sealing temperature to 0°C in menu number101.
If an external sealing temperature (analog input, terminals36+39) and an internal
sealing temperature (menu number101) are specified, the temperature controller uses
the higher temperature and displays it in the standard screen.
Highest value
The setting range is limited by the maximum value specified in the Heating ele-
ment menu, menu number306 or the temperature range set in the Heating ele-
ment menu, menu number 305.
Setpoint
The setpoint specified as the sealing temperature has to be greater than 40°C. If the
setpoint is lower, activation of the START signal or touching Manual does not trigger
heating.
Specifying sealing
temperature
When the sealing temperature is specified via the analog input, terminals36+39, the
external voltage has to be activated at least 100ms before sealing starts. Otherwise
the sealing temperature will not reach the desired value.

Ref
The temperature applies voltage of U
ref
(10VDC) to terminal5. This voltage is shared
with the setpoint temperature and supplied to the analog output, terminal36. The set-
point temperature has to be set to zero in menu number101 in this case as well.
The analog input does not serve as the specified sealing temperature when:
The analog input is configured as the source of the TCR calculator temperature
(menu number303).
