When the variable base temperature is specified via an external input, the external
voltage must be activated at least 200ms before AUTOCAL is performed. Otherwise
the base temperature will not achieve the desired value.
If the specified temperature is too high (greater than 40 °C) or if the specified value
fluctuates, an error message appears (error code s115 and116,; refer to section Error
messages [}84]).
The automatic calibration takes approx. 10…15 sec. The heating element is not
heated additionally during this process. During AUTOCAL, the message "Calibration -
please wait" appears on the screen and a timer counts down from 15 to 0. The actual
value output (terminals 17+18) changes to 0…3 °C (corresponds to approx. 0 VDC)
during this time.
Fluctuating
temperature
If the temperature of the heating element fluctuates, the AUTOCAL function is exe-
cuted a maximum of three times. If the function still cannot be executed successfully,
an error message appears; refer to section Error messages [}84].
AUTOCAL function is
disabled
AUTOCAL is disabled if any of the following conditions occur:
• In the first 10sec, if the temperature controller does not report an alarm after be-
ing switched on reset, and the cooling rate is lower than 0.1K/sec. The tempera-
ture controller indicates in the Settings menu, menu number107: "Heating ele-
ment still warm! Please wait..."
• The cooling rate of the heating element is greater than 0.1K/s. The temperature
controller indicates in the Settings menu, menu number107: "Heating element
still warm! Please wait..."
Note: If the AUTOCAL signal is activated and the cooling rate has fallen below
0.1K/s, the temperature controller carries out the AUTOCAL function.
• The START signal is active. The temperature controller indicates in the Settings
menu, menu number107 "AUTOCAL is disabled! (START signal active...)"
• The DETACH signal is active. The temperature controller indicates in the Set-
tings menu, menu number107 "AUTOCAL is disabled! (DETACH signal ac-
tive...)"
• The RESET signal is active. The temperature controller indicates in the Settings
menu, menu number107 "AUTOCAL is disabled! (RESET signal active...)"
• Error codes 101…103, 201…203 or 9xx occur directly after switching on the tem-
perature controller; refer to section Error messages [}84]. The temperature con-
troller indicates in the Settings menu, menu number107: "AUTOCAL blocked!
(ALARM active)."
• if the temperature controller has operated correctly at least once after being
switched on and error codes201 to203 or9xx occur; refer to section Error mes-
sages [}84]. The temperature controller indicates in the Settings menu, menu
number107: "AUTOCAL blocked! (ALARM active)."
8.2.4 Configuring alarm relay
The alarm relay can be configured in the Machine menu, menu number405. The fol-
lowing settings are possible:
Setting Description
Normal Alarm relay contact closes when an alarm occurs.
Inverse Alarm relay contact opens when an alarm occurs.
8.2.5 START signal

state of the timer:
