In addition to these files you may also have a file called UPGRADE.LOG This file exists if any registers
have not been found between versions during the upgrade. The bad register numbers / names are listed in the
upgrade.log file. This is very useful when upgrading between versions as registers are often removed or renamed
between software versions.
The files in the upgrade folder listed above contain information concerning the software that was loaded
prior to the upgrade.
software_upgrade.fin = This contains all the data as if a CS command had been performed on the
software version prior to upgrade.
software_upgrade.CSV = This contains the CS format as in the .fin file but within the .CSV file format.
software_upgrade.CAL = This contains the specific DAC and ADC values where the previous calibration
data was stored prior to the upgrade. It is just a small set of IO specific registers.
software_upgrade.BIN = This binary file contains a block copy of the FRAM register memory prior to the
upgrade. If required, this file can be loaded back into memory via the LOADFRAM shell command. However,
note that this BIN file is dependent on software version. The reason for this is that register names and their
position within memory can move between versions. Please check to make sure the versions are compatible.
You may wish to rename this .BIN file after an upgrade so that the filename contains the software version from
which it was created.
7.4 Upgrading The Bootloader Software Via The Application
WARNING: This process is not to be performed unless instructed by a trained Jiskoot engineer.
Incorrect programming can result in the instrument needing to be returned to the factory for repair.
Just as the application software (sampler / blender) can be updated via the bootloader application prior
to the application starting, the bootloader software can be updated via the application in testcard mode. The
process is the same as upgrading the application. You must stop all other tasks when entering the testcard
prompt for the upgrade process. The command to run is called:
PGMBOOTLOADER fn - Reprogram the bootloader flash with a file named fn
When you execute this command, you will be warned as follows:
M:\ TESTCARD$ PGMBOOTLOADER ER_IROM1
WARNING: Loss of power or incorrect programming of bootloader will
result in the instrument needing to be returned to the factory.
All other tasks will be stopped before flashing.
File to program is 'M:\ER_IROM1', if you wish to continue press Y
